Private Residence Pickleball Court

Summary Statement

In Evergreen, CO, a homeowner placed a 3” slab-on-grade pickleball court in February 2025. Both the concrete producer, Peak Materials, and the owner voiced concern about potential cracking and freeze-thaw durability for the relatively thin slab. The foremost design consideration was cost, and the homeowner wanted to complete the project using as little concrete as possible while still maintaining performance.

EdenCrete® Purpose

In order to mitigate concerns about cracking and freeze-thaw durability, a robust solution was required. EdenCrete Pz7® was used in the mix to provide extra strength and crack resistance for the relatively thin slab. The contractor was very pleased with the finishability of the mix and the owner was very happy with the end result.

Project Details and Conclusions

The use of EdenCrete® Pz7 in the pickle ball court was of particular importance considering the relative thinness, 3”. Superior strength and crack reduction were critical. In addition, resistance to freeze-thaw cycles could result in potential crazing, dusting, and scaling. All these concerns were addressed by using EdenCrete Pz7® in the mix.
