Cement ADDITIVE - Carbon Nanotube Admixture
There are concrete admixtures and there are cement additives. The main difference between an admixture and an additive is the stage at which the product is added to concrete or cement. An additive is added in the cement manufacturing process, while the addition of an admixture occurs when making concrete mixtures.
Chemical admixtures for concrete are often referred to as concrete additives or concrete admixtures, synonymously. However, it is incorrect to refer to a cement additive as a cement admixture. Concrete admixtures are ingredients used to alter fresh and hardened properties of the concrete.
Cement is the primary binding ingredient in concrete, created by grinding cement clinker with gypsum and various mineral additives. Traditional cement with no other pozzolans, ashes, or slag, is referred to as “ordinary Portland cement” and is covered by ASTM C150 Standard Specification for Portland Cement. It has been the dominant type of cement used in the past. Ordinary Portland cement can be blended with various other ingredients such as natural pozzolans, fly ashes, ground granulated blast furnace slag, silica fume and limestone powder. These blended cements are covered by ASTM C595 Standard Specification for Blended Hydraulic Cements. Market and environmental forces are driving a wide-scale transition to blended cements, with Type 1L (increased limestone content) emerging as the dominant cement type. Blended cements have a reduced carbon footprint due to a lower ordinary Portland cement content.
EdenCrete® is used by numerous state DOTs throughout the United States. Reduced construction costs and reduced long term road maintenance are two big benefits these states discovered using the liquid carbon nanotube admixture. Read about the results of our collaboration with Georgia and Colorado as well as many other road construction projects.
EdenCrete®, the liquid carbon nanotube concrete admixture, is used in concrete construction because of its multi-faceted improvements in fresh and hardened properties of concrete.
Concrete in heavy commercial construction projects must be able to withstand potentially high compressive loads, flexural loads, hydraulic head, and impact abrasion. EdenCrete® helps the concrete stand up to those challenges.
Using a concrete admixture like EdenCrete® for swimming pool construction is necessary to produce a top quality finished product. Changing the pumping, spraying, and carving characteristics of wet shotcrete is a game changer for the installation crews. Reducing permeability, scaling, and cracking in the finished product increases durability and service life of swimming pools to make happier customers.
EdenCrete® liquid carbon nanotube concrete admixture is used in home building, roads, drainage, driveways, patios, retaining walls, and hardscape features. Construction companies and builders have found that EdenCrete® improves placement, finishing, and resistance to abrasion, cracking, and scaling. It can be ordered so that it is already in the mix from the concrete plant, but contractors can dose EdenCrete® into the concrete at the jobsite as well.
